Robert Bateman Foundation

The Bateman Foundation envisions a world that values ecoliteracy and mindfulness, in which the general public knows the names of their neighbours in the natural world. This knowledge and connection is crucial – not only for environmental conservation efforts, but for community-building, the removal of fear and isolation, and the creation of safe spaces in our shared world. Our mission is to build relationships with nature through art. Founded by renowned artist and naturalist Robert Bateman, we use art to understand our environment and unlock creativity.

After graduating from the University of Regina, David entered the investment industry and has been advising individual clients and foundations since 1983. He had a number of senior management roles with a major bank owned firm and now focuses on personalized service to a conservative client base. David is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute and is very active in the community working with many organizations. David was on the board at the GNS Foundation, the RBCM Foundation, Victoria Golf Club, Pacific Opera and now is the Chair of the Bateman Foundation.

David also co-founded the Gustavson Distinguished Entrepreneur Award and was the Gustavson Board of Advisor Chair for over 10 years.

David’s passion is to connect people in the community and with it has developed a very robust and diversified professional and community network. These contacts help immensely on the investment planning side and in helping to educate and inform his clients.
