Funding Guidelines
Updated March, 2023
Applications cycle
2023 Community Grants program is now closed for applications. We will contact all applicants by June 1 with our decisions. Thanks for your interest and we invite you to apply next year
We will again accept requests in early 2024 with a process similar to below.
If you have received funding from us before, in order to be considered for subsequent funding we must receive a one-page report outlining how the money was spent on the program. Please also note the following:
- only applications received by the 2024 deadline will be considered;
- we will acknowledge receipt of your request within five business days
- applications will be evaluated between mid-March and mid-May;
- we will notify you of our decision by June 1;
- if successful, you will be required to complete a Funding Agreement.
Who we fund
We only fund societies that are either incorporated under the BC Societies Act and / or registered as a charitable organization under the federal Income Tax Act.
How much we donate
How much we can donate varies from year-to-year depending on how successful our fundraisers and investments have been. We always receive requests for more money than we have to donate.
What we fund
We consider all requests and use these criteria in making our decisions.
- Proximity to our Club: Those in Victoria, Esquimalt and Saanich, as the other areas in the Capital Regional District are served by other Rotary Clubs.
- Individuals / groups served: We favour preventative services for vulnerable individuals, families and groups, and services for those who are already at risk physically, psychologically, emotionally, and / or financially.
- Impact: Projects that have a significant impact on those served, the size of the population that will be served, and the impact on the broader community.
- Ability to complete and sustain: Organizations that can demonstrate there will be sufficient funding to complete the proposed work and to sustain the services afterwards.
- Social volunteering: Projects that include specific opportunities for our Rotary members to volunteer on the project or program or with the organization more generally.
