Assistive technology for the blind.

Assistive technology makes a profound difference in the lives of blind and partially sighted individuals.  Whether you’re a kid in school, an adult entering the workforce, or a senior wanting to read books and stay connected with family, accessible devices level the playing field and open a world of possibilities as never before.  Craig Faris, from the CNIB Foundation’s Tech Team, will speak to the impact Rotary Victoria Harborside’s contribution will have on getting this life-changing technology into the hands of participants in Greater Victoria.

Born totally blind, Craig Faris grew up on Protection Island (near Nanaimo).  At the age of 16, he co-founded a business selling adapted products for low vision consumers and was privileged to visit 25 countries for R&D and sales purposes.  In his present role as Manager of Technology Programs for the CNIB Foundation, Craig is a passionate advocate for the role tech can play in affording greater independence to blind users.  He lives in Abbotsford and loves spending time in the great outdoors.

Shalon Morrison, Manager, Major Gifts & Philanthropy will be providing support to the presentation.
