Membership Chair Dawn Gibbons chaired this portion of the meeting, welcoming Fiona Cheong as a new member.
Andrew Bekes introduced Fiona, who was born and spent the first half of her life in Singapore. She spent her first four months in Canada in Merritt, living with her in-laws and had a bear encounter. This didn't last long as she insisted on moving to the city. Next stop was Kamloops where she enrolled in university and then in 1998 to Victoria where she finished her history degree and had her second baby. Her first job in Victoria was at the Maritime Museum where she learned the importance of volunteer run facilities. Currently she is working for the provincial government where her first job was at Government House and now works in immigration policy at the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism, and Skills Training. She recently completed a Masters degree at Royal Roads University, enjoys flamenco dancing, baking, jazz and travel.

Past President Lisa Collins conducted the oath and welcomed Fiona to the family of Rotary.
