Harbourside is very pleased to welcome Kathleen (Kathy) Nelson as the newest member of our Club. Kathy grew up in Port Alberni then lived in Port McNeill for close to 40 years before moving to Victoria. She and her ex operated a large construction company on the North Island where their projects focused on logging companies, Utah Mines, highway bridges, dryland sorts, schools and all the work for the fish farm industry in the area. Kathy also worked for MacMillan Bloedel for 20 years in the accounting department. Following retirement from the construction industry, Kathy and her ex are now in property management.

From 2005, Kathy was actively involved with the Port McNeill Rotary Club before officially becoming a member of that club in early 2010. She was club president from 2012 to 2013 then as treasurer from 2013 to 2015. In addition, Kathy was also the Canadian representative on the District Finance Committee from 2012 to 2015.

Now that Kathy is settled in her new home in Victoria, she volunteers with Disaster Aid Canada and Habitat Restore. She also volunteers at major golf tournaments such as US Opens, Hyundai, Humana, Tahoe and so forth for a couple of times a year.  Kathy has a daughter, Andrea, who lives in Nanaimo. Though Kathy has travelled extensively, she continues to find new places to visit. Other interests include a love for dragon boats as well as paddling with the local Air Force mixed team. Her not-so-secret guilty pleasures are poker and zip-lines. Kathy looks forward to becoming an active member with Harbourside Rotary.
