Victoria Harbourcats 6th Season is upon us,  and Managing Partner Him Swanson gave us a rundown on what we can expect in the upcoming season.

Ted Noakes introduced Jim Swanson who was named Managing Partner of the Victoria HarbourCats in January 2016.  Previously he had served as General Manager and Vice-President since 2013 and had been involved in every HarbourCat's season since Year Two.  The franchise is now entering its sixth season on 2018.  In that time, the HarbourCats have been leaders in the West Coast Baseball League with attendance records from 2014 - 2017, league finalists in 2017 and also made history by signing the League's first female pitcher.

Jim opened his remarks but confidentially informing us that Miles Takacs had the best seats in the house at Royal Athletic Park.  He actually had a seating map of the park up on the screen and identified where those seats were.  (Just in case we were interested).  Jim indicated that 2018 was going to be the best season ever with lots of exciting events and a great schedule.  Some of the highlights will include:

  • weekend games throughout the month of June
  • 4 Fireworks Nights including Father's Day, Canada Day and BC Day
  • a post-game concert with the band Chilliwack
  • a game with a Cuban Team on June 28th
  • Seniors Sunday and a special day to honour members of the Armed Forces
  • two new party decks for groups including a double decker bus conversion
Jim indicated how important the great corporate support has been for the HarbourCats and allowed the franchise to keep ticket prices and food costs reasonable for fans.  He said sports marketing was different from traditional marketing and the use of corporate sponsors and their distribution channels was very important to their success.

Miles Takacs thanked Jim Swanson and Christian Stewart for their presentation and indicated 5 nutritious meals would be purchased on their behalf at Our Place.
